Transformation Of Sihanoukville Seen

 


The blueprint for Ream City, in Cambodia's Sihanoukville province, was recently announced, with the goal of transforming the area into an appealing tourist attraction. This large-scale development, which spans more than 6 kilometres of oceanfront, will include a sustainable ecosystem of tourism, commercial, and residential activity, with the capacity to house up to 130,000 people.

The 834-hectare project is being developed by Canopy Sands Development, a subsidiary of the Cambodian conglomerate Prince Holding Group, and will include family attractions, condominiums, landed and beachfront homes and affordable housing estates, shopping malls, business hubs, beach resorts, hotels, condotels, and a yacht and marina club. The concept, which was completed by Singapore-based Surbana Jurong Group, is a significant step toward making Ream City's vision a reality.

“We are currently preparing for downstream developments, including utilities and road infrastructure as well as secondary developments. This will require sourcing the right consultants to assist us in conceptualising and designing what will be an iconic development. We will make announcements at a later stage,” said Khong Weng Fook, managing director of Canopy Sands Development.

According to Mr Khong, Ream City will be created in three parts over a period of more than 20 years.

Phase 1 – or the start-up phase – is expected to be finished in 2025 and will consist of a 50-hectare complex. “It will comprise the main components of our Integrated Resort complex, including MICE facilities and hotels. Residential developments are also planned to cater to the expected demand.”

Phase 2 is a 357-hectare project that will be completed in 2035, and Phase 3 is a 427-hectare project that will be completed in 2045.

Cambodian Donation To Laos
